Big Nuneaton clash will have a bit of needle to it now

Thursday, March 05, 2009, 08:00

IT was disappointing for Tuesday night's game against Nuneaton to be called off and it was a surprise too.

When it started lashing down that afternoon I thought 'here we go again' but the gaffer called me up and said the pitch had passed an inspection.

And we were just going out for our warm-up when the ref decided it wasn't playable.

I think common sense probably prevailed as it was not just the rain but a strong wind too and it would have been difficult for either side to play football.

The fixture seems to be jinxed as that's about the fourth time it has been called off but a few of the lads thought it might suit us more to play at their place first as there will be less pressure on us.

We travel to Nuneaton on Tuesday and won't need much motivation after I saw a recent interview with one of their players, Paul Spacey – an ex-Scholar.

There is a bit of needle and bad feeling developing between the sides anyway because they seem to think we are scared of playing them after all the postponements.

I think they need to show us a bit more respect but Spacey seems to think they have a better squad than us man for man.

I'm not sure where he's coming from because I wouldn't swap one of our players for one of theirs.

First we have Woodford at home on Saturday and we will not look past them as there have been a number of upsets in the league lately so we will not take anybody lightly.
