Lively performance needed to help rally match troops

WELL as we all thought, it's come down to us versus Atherstone in the play-off semi-final.

First, we have the little matter of the last game of the season against Bedworth on Saturday.

Our priority is the play-off game of course but we really want to go into that match with some momentum after a couple of disappointing results.

We have a relatively large squad again after all the injuries have cleared up, so Charlie might make a few changes for this weekend.

It's a chance for a few people to play their way into his thoughts but not everyone can play at Atherstone so there will be some disappointed faces.

It was good to see Adie Smith on the bench on Tuesday, returning after his injury – I think Charlie wanted to give him a run out but it didn't happen with the way the game turned out.

Whether he play, it is always good to have someone with his experience around.

We were talking about the Atherstone trip after the Arlesey game on Tuesday and motivation is not an issue – they have seen to that.

It's a tough place to go plus they won the League Cup this week so they will be on a high.

Ever since we secured our play-off place, things have gone a bit flat.

It's been shown in the performances but also among the fans as the atmosphere seems to have gone a bit flat too.

So we need a performance this Saturday to get everyone bubbling and make sure we are up for the play-offs.

Ever since I've been at the club we have always risen to the occasion in big games and hopefully that will continue.

Even in comparison to the cup run, the lads are aware just how big a game this is because it's all about promotion and we have got to make sure it doesn't pass us by.

It's a relatively local game too so hopefully we will get a big, loud backing, like during the cup run.

Since I've been at the club the fans have been fantastic and with the game being just down the road, we want to see as many of them there as possible.

Atherstone have only averaged about 250 or 300 fans this season so come along and turn it into a home game for us.
