Azam leads Bloxwich to victory and fifth in table

Springvale CC (136) lost to Bloxwich CC First XI (138-6) by four wickets

BLOXWICH moved up to fifth in the Staffs top flight thanks to a four-wicket win away at Springvale.

Having asked the hosts to bat, it was trial by spin for the home batsmen as Maroof Azam (4-45) ripped through the home side. He was ably supported by James Lewis and Iqbal Masood, who claimed two scalps apiece, while Shiraz Tahir and Aaron Allcock took the other wickets to fall during the afternoon.

In reply, Danny King (42) again led the way for Bloxwich and despite the loss of quick wickets, the middle order of John Ackrill (14), Azam (31no) and Stuart Clarke (16no) saw Bloxwich home.
