Staffs Clubs League Division Two

Walsall YPF CC First XI (88) lost to Highcroft and Great Barr CC (156-6) by 78 runs

WALSALL YPF's hopes of reaching the Staffs top flight suffered a massive blow as they lost to fellow promotion hopefuls Highcroft on Saturday.

Walsall won the toss and put Highcroft into bat. The Highcroft batsmen played well on a difficult batting track making a competitive 156-6 of their allocated overs.

Zubair was the main contributor making a well constructed 35 as the Highcroft batsmen all applied themselves and batted with good control and aggression.

It was totally the opposite for Walsall YPF as all the batsmen played without any application or game plan which resulted in a very disappointing 88 all out.

This was a case of the batsmen getting themselves out rather than the bowlers getting the wickets.

Walsall travel to Coseley this weekend in their penultimate game of the season with a win needed to revive their hopes of promotion.
