Happy to take Farsley victory after a nervy ending

Friday, March 13, 2009, 00:00

SATURDAY was a game where we certainly made life difficult for ourselves in the end.

We were coasting at 2-0 against Farsley after goals from Rodders (Alex Rodman) and Gareth Sheldon.

But then a mistake by us at the back opened up an opportunity for them and they took it.

It meant a tough last 30 minutes or so and we could have crumbled at that point.

But we dug in there and scraped the win – albeit with the help of our skipper Fozzie, who cleared one off the line at the end.

It wasn't necessary a great performance but we had been comfortable until conceding.

The main point is that we won the game – you can't ask anymore than that.

Of course, once we went 2-0 up, it would have been nice to win by three or four.

But at this stage of the season, a win is a win. If we have to win the next 11 games 'ugly' then so be it.

Looking at the other results, AFC Telford dropped a couple of points which was good and Gateshead came out on top against Southport.

To be honest though, for me personally, other results don't matter one little bit.

If we keep picking up the wins, it won't matter what anyone else does. We just have to stay focused on what we do.

Next up we have Blyth and, without a doubt, it's another tough one for us.

They are down the bottom and are fighting for their lives but they have talent.

On any given any team in the league can beat anyone else and Blyth have already shown in the FA Cup that they can upset the apple cart.

They even gave Blackburn Rovers a run for their money in their third round FA Cup tie so we will certainly not be taking them lightly this weekend.

Happy to take Farsley victory after a nervy ending
