It's tough waiting for news of Trophy win

I WASN'T at The Lamb on Tuesday night, due to illness, and I have to say it was very frustrating.

I couldn't find the result anywhere on Sky or the other channels.

You could get the Ryman, Unibond and all those leagues but for some reason not the FA Trophy, which is not ideal when you are desperate to know how the lads are getting on.

Fortunately, I managed to get hold of Rod Hadley at half time and then spoke to Buster Belford at full time.

It was good to get the result and progress to the next round.

I haven't had too much of a run down of the performance as yet but a win is a win and it keeps alive our FA Trophy hopes.

Now we face a trip to Guiseley and I, personally, should be back in contention for a place in the squad at the weekend.

It will be a tough place for us to go to – they will fancy their chances of causing an upset, especially as they are the home side.

And they seem to be doing well in their league.

We need to do all the right things – show the right application and I think, with these kind of games, it's all about the start.

We need to be on the ball from the word go and if we do that and win the battles over the pitch, I would like to think our quality would come through.

Tuesday night's win came on the back of the draw against Eastbourne and those two results mean that we have now gone seven games unbeaten.

We possibly haven't quite lived up to the performance of the Oxford game since.

They have been 'nearly' displays but, as I say, it's a results business and we have to be happy with how we are doing.

Jerome Murdock arrived at the club last week and made his debut as a sub on Saturday.

He looks quite raw but that gives the manager something to work with and he gives us a different outlet from an attacking point of view.

His arrival adds competition for places which is something that we need – especially as we were down to the bare bones again on Tuesday night.

We have the likes of Seb Lake-Gaskin and Dom Langdon also looking to establish a regular place in the side and if they keep working hard in training, I am sure they will give the gaffer food for thought.

We need competition for places to have more success between now and the end of the season.
