Rugeley set for 750th Charter Fair
Billed as 'the best fair yet' the fair is celebrating its 750th year and a host of entertainment is lined up.
The event, on Saturday (June 6), will begin with a colourful parade of floats through the town at 12noon – showing Rugeley through the ages.
And then an afternoon of 'exciting' events takes place on Hagley Park Fields.
Main performances come from motorcycle display team Bolddog Lings and the Backdraft wheelie truck, jumping 15ft into the air.
Other highlights include a 300-strong choir at 2.30pm – featuring children from ten local primary schools – and a samba band from local schools.
Market stalls, bouncy castles and plenty of games will add to the fun to make the event a great family day out, a spokesman said.
The evening will be topped off by the 2007 World Firework Champions giving a explosive pyrotechnic display.
There will also be a Charter Fair barn dance and hog roast, with tickets priced at £10.
And on Sunday, St Augustine's Church will also celebrate the anniversary of the fair with a service from 4pm.
The fair is organised by Rugeley Town Council which hopes it will promote the town and raise money for local charities.
