Can you help in hunt for Bunty?

I WONDER if you could, through your columns, help me to trace relatives of mine who lived in Walsall.

The one I am most interested in was called Bunty; his surname would have been Lawrence or Marlow. I believe he was in the Armed Forces, captured by the Japanese at the fall of Singapore and fortunately, lived through imprisonment in POW camps and work on the Burma Railway.

I remember my father, Frederick Lawrence, formerly of Broadway North, returned visibly shocked at having seen Bunty on his repatriation after the war and saying he weighed only five or six stones.

The Lawrences and Marlows were involved in the leather trade, but I don't know if there are family members still living in or around Walsall. One of the Lawrences was Frederick Lawrence of Lawrence and Plater who had a sports shop in Ablewell Street and was a water polo playing team member.

I am an almost 80 year old computer illiterate, so as you can imagine, I would be delighted if you could help me in my search.
