JETSETTERS have helped raise more than £10,000 for a charity inspired by an Aldridge boy's courageous battle with a brain tumour.

Sharon Sambrook created the Ben Sambrook Fund after her nine-year-old fought off a Grade 4 malignant tumour after gruelling rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

In a bid to speed up research into tumours among young people the fund was created – and has so far topped an incredible £70,000.

The biggest single contributor was Thomsonfly, which chose the Fund as one of its onboard charities in 2009 – raising £9,214.

Mrs Sambrook said: "The fund was created to make sure than no family had to go through the hell that we did."

Ben has also received good news from the doctors with his three-monthly scans now being increased to every four months after a series of negative results.

"It's fantastic, it's a bit scary but it's a step in the right direction" added Mrs Sambrook.

Ever since Cooper and Jordan School pupil Ben made his recovery, Mrs Sambrook dedicated her time to fund-raising – and 2010 will see no slow down in her mission.

Already, Aston Villa Old Stars have agreed to play a charity match for the fund and she was recently interviewed by the Great Ormond Street Hospital website, which is currently online.
