Dogs removed after RSPCA raid Rosedene kennels
Rosedene Boarding Kennels, in Radley Road, was visited by animal welfare inspectors and police at 9am on Thursday, January 21.
Around 50 officers and inspectors visited the site to remove the dogs – three of which were put down by vets after assessment.
The other animals were taken into RSPCA care and officers remained on site until 9pm.
RSPCA spokeswoman Judith Haw said: "Under police warrant, RSPCA inspectors along with officers from West Midlands Police, attended kennels in Walsall on Thursday, January 21.
"There were 59 dogs at the kennels.
"Three dogs were euthanised at the scene on veterinary advice.
"The remaining 56 dogs were removed from the premises by the RSPCA due to conditions at the kennels.
"All the dogs, which have been signed over to the RSPCA, are now in our care, under assessment and treatment, before being moved to RSPCA animal centres for re-homing.
"As a current investigation is ongoing, no further comment can be made at this time."
In October last year, the Advertiser launched an appeal on behalf of the Rosedene Dog Rescue Centre for bedding and rugs to help comfort the animals during the winter months.
Our readers responded generously, and a number of items were donated to help animals being cared for at the centre.
The Advertiser attempted to call the centre but the number was unobtainable.
Jack the Jack Russell was one of the many dogs housed at the Rosedene Centre.
