Nuisance youths will be driven home by police
Complaints have been rife among residents as youths continue to cause a nuisance such as spreading graffiti.
Now with the new powers, police can break up groups of youths and prevent them from returning to an area within 24 hours.
Acting Sergeant Chris Sprague, from the Pheasey neighbourhood team, said: "We are extremely pleased with the terms of this dispersal order.
"It allows us to address problems in the area even more effectively and help residents."
Anyone believed to be under the age of 16 and not under the effective control of a parent or responsible adult between 9pm and 6am can also be taken back home.
The order comes into force at one minute past midnight on Wednesday, July 1, and ends on Thursday, December 31.
The order covers Crook Lane, Carr Lakes Lane, Bodens Lane, Pinfold Lane, Beacon Road, Pheasey Estate, Wimperis Way, Collingwood Drive, Tynedale Crescent and surrounding areas.
