Tributes to town's fallen

FALLEN heroes will be remembered in Walsall this Sunday during a civic parade.

Mayor of Walsall Councillor John O'Hare and Mayoress Mrs Diane Leese will assemble with a host of representatives at Walsall Council House at 10.05am.

The Mayor will return to Walsall Council House at 10.25am where the procession will make its way to the cenotaph in Bradford Place via Lichfield Street, Lower Bridge Street, The Bridge and Bradford Street.

At the cenotaph there will be an amplified open air service, conducted by the Reverend Colin Gibson, with a sign language interpreter to relay proceedings for the hard of hearing.

The families of Corporal Jonathan Horne, who died in Afghanistan, and Gunner David Lawrence, who died in Iraq, have been invited to attend.

The soldiers' names have been added to the Roll of Honour in Walsall Town Hall in memory of those who have lost their lives during active service since 1945.

A service will also be held at the Orthodox Church in Palfrey at 12pm.
