MIDLANDS reggae legends UB40 are topping the bill at a huge Bank Holiday gig at Walsall Football Club's Banks's Stadium.

The legendary Birmingham band are headlining The Spring Happening outdoor concert on Monday, May 31, which will also feature urban outfit N-Dubz, supported by the Specials frontman Neville Staple.

A huge crowd is expected for the day-long event, with tickets priced at £55 (plus a £5.50 booking free).

"This promises to be a great event," said Mark Ellis from The Spring Happening's promoter, Unique Live Events. "The line-up is awesome and there's definitely something in there to suit every taste and era.

"The Spring Happening will be a great Bank Holiday day out for all the family. The facilities at the Banks's Stadium are first class and this will be the outdoor event of 2010.

"We have some fantastic acts already in place and are talking to other artists to add to the line-up."

The Walsall-based event is one of only two gigs UB40 have planned in the UK this year so far, as their tour takes in Germany, France, Holland and India promoting new album Labour of Love IV – released in February.

Formed in 1978, UB40 has placed more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart and has sold more than 70 million records worldwide, boasting iconic hits Red Red Wine, Kingston Town, Can't Help Falling in Love and I Got You Babe.

The band's frontman Ali Campbell left UB40 to pursue a solo career in 2008, and was replaced seamlessly by his brother Duncan.

Pop/rap outfit N-Dubz consist of Dino 'Dappy' Contostavlos, Tula 'Tulisa' Contostavlos and Richard 'Fazer' Rawson.

Their debut album Uncle B stormed to the top of the UK album chart in November 2008. Midlands Ska heroes The Beat complete the line-up.

Tickets will be on sale shortly from The Banks's Stadium Ticket Office – (01922) 651 414/416 or online at www.springhappening.com and www.saddlers.co.uk

The all-day event starts at 2.00pm with doors opening at 12 noon.
