A TEENAGE paedophile from Walsall who encouraged a mother in the United States to sexually abuse her own daughter live over the internet has been jailed for four years and eight months.

Nicholas Wilde watched the shocking pictures of the assault as they were beamed three thousand miles across the Atlantic on a webcam at his home, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told, on Monday, February 9.

Judge Hilary Watson said it was clear the 19-year-old was 'obsessed' by child pornography and told him: "It was entirely for your benefit, at your direction, for the sexual gratification of Nicholas Wilde."

The teenager of Holmbridge Grove, Shelfield admitted 10 charges of making, possessing or distributing indecent images of children and also possessing extreme pornography.

He further asked the Judge to take into consideration five other offences involving the possession of extreme pornography.

Wilde also admitted two charges of incitement to commit sexual assault of a child under 13 – offences that led to the arrest of a mother-of-four in the North American state of Maine.

The court was told the teenager who had 'cajoled' the mother into abusing her child also befriended a 16-year-old Humberside schoolgirl using the name of Smith and he sent her pornographic material.

The shocked girl told her mother, the police were notified, they quickly traced the images to the Walsall home and Wilde was arrested.

Police seized a computer and other material belonging to Wilde and, when checked, it was found to contain a number of disturbing images including children being raped.

The mother in Maine was arrested following a probe involving the American Child Exploitation Unit, the Online Protection Centre and the United States Embassy.

Mr Stephen,Cadwaladr, defending Wilde, submitted it was more important for him to receive treatment for his actions rather than be sentenced to further time in custody.

He told the court that Wilde had been held in custody since his arrest in June last year – the equivalent of an 18 month jail term.

Wilde, he added, was suffering from Aspergers Syndrome and he had also had a number of other significant problems in his life.

The Judge told Wilde he must register as a Sex Offender for the rest of his life and she barred him from ever working with children.
