Blues lose first match against Blackpool
No disrespect but Blackpool at home was among the easier games they have played in the league this year and they would have been looking for all three points from that one to give themselves that edge.
The Championship is not like that though and teams who you expect to beat you lose to and vice versa.
No team is easy in this league and Blues have now found that out.
I have spoken to people about the game and they have all said it was a below par performance form the team.
Knowing ALex McLeish I do not think it would be down to complacency but even so the fans will demand better.
Everybody knows that Blues fans are demanding, especially in this division and with the squad the side have got this year.
On the flip side the fans are also among the best I have played for and as players they will have to take the rough with the smooth this year.
The fans will demand more from games like Blackpool at home but they will support you like no other when it is needed.
The result for Blues was made worse on Saturday as Wolves won again.
They are off to a great start and Mick McCarthy has now got his side playing just how he wants to.
It is to early in the season to think about Wolves getting ahead but I think Alex will not even be worried.
All he will want is to go up this year and as it stands his side are in second place so he will be happy.
Things will not get any easier for Blues this weekend as they have to travel to Cardiff.
I saw a bit of the Bluebirds game on Tuesday night and they did not that good to be honest.
They are a different test at home though and Blues will find it tough.
I have played at Ninian Park before and the jey is to keep the home side out for 30mins and then watch the fans begin to turn.
They are good fans and create a strong atmosphere within the ground but they also can go against the side which is good for Blues.
One player will be especially up for a Cardiff win and that is Darren Purse.
Pursey is the captain there now and I know that playing against your old club can really motivate you.
Pursely will not need that extra lift as he is already a wholehearted player – some may say to wholehearted to be honest.
