Manchester United defeat will not determine how the Baggies fare
It was a big defeat but I think all the fans and the media should realise it was just one game and not the end of our season.
In all honesty we would not have thought that game was one we could have taken much from beforehand so a defeat was not that much of a surprise.
It was made worse I think because of the fact that we have got a lot of injuries and they are a world class team at the top of their game – plus we only had ten men.
Taking on United with a full compliment is hard enough at times so to try to do it with ten men was always going to be a big ask.
So in my mind the result was not that big a shock, only the scoreline left me a bit taken aback.
As a newly promoted team this season there was always a chance that West Brom might face a big defeat at some point this season, that was never in doubt.
What was in doubt was how we would react and now we have to show that it will be positively.
Starting at Hull away this weekend, the West Brom players need to show that the United defeat is out of their system and that they are all fully focussed on staying up.
To get a result against Hull would be such a bonus, especially with the league as tight as it is this season.
I think a win is something West Brom can and will get as when you look at it Hull are not having the best of times of late.
They are a team I used to play for and therefore know how demanding their fans can be.
Even though they have done so well so far there will still be one or two who will be looking at it and asking what is going on with their current form.
Their form might be helped in the next few weeks by the arrival of Jimmy Bullard.
I cannot believe how much money they have spent on him, they have only just come up like us so it is a big risk.
They must be paying him a lot also as I have lived in Hull before and it would take a lot of money for me to consider going back there for four years.
West Brom will be desperate for the result up there to bring to an end a week where they have lost and drawn.
The United defeat was preceded by a draw against Burnley at the Hawthorns in the FA Cup – a game that the Baggies should have won.
They had the chances to do so and if they had a bit more experience in certain places probably would have done.
A late chance for Roman Bednar was scuffed on the rebound by Jay Simpson and had he done better with that then Burnley would have not been able to come back so well with almost no time left.
West Brom have got to forget about that now, though, as after all they are still in the cup and a win away from getting out of the relegation zone.
