Classic game of two halves
Walsall Wood 3
Dosthill Colts 3
THE 'game of two halves' cliche has never been as apt as it was at Oak Park on Tuesday as Wood fought out an entertaining draw.
Wood dominated the first half and took the lead on 10 minutes as Huseyin Torgut was upended just outside the box and Brett Larkins nodded home Rob Cadman's pinpoint free-kick from six yards.
They were 2-0 up on 23 minutes as a blistering shot from Rob Seal was just too powerful for the diving Paul Hathaway who could not prevent the ball from going over the line.
On 36 minutes, Wood scored the goal of the game as a long ball over the top found Ahmet Bilgimer who cleverly lifted the ball over the head of the defender and then volleyed past a helpless keeper.
But Dosthill, whose only real first-half chance saw Mark Adey hit the post from close range, dominated after the break.
They pulled a goal back as Leon Haddock crossed for Ant Fallon to slot home and the same player soon made it 3-2 before Dan Pollitt levelled the score with a low drive.
Wood keeper Reeves also made several fine saves but the hosts had a great chance to snatch victory, only for Cadman to be denied one-on-one by the excellent Hathaway.
Wood boss Rob Masefield said: "It was a great game for the neutral but we were disappointed to be in such a strong a position and only come away with a point.
"We tried to get into the boys at half-time that the job was far from done but I think second half we were too complacent."
