Defensive lapses so costly
Rushall Olympic 1
Lincoln United 4
POOR defending gifted struggling Lincoln all three points at Dales Lane as Rushall slumped to a dire home defeat after shipping three second-half goals, writes Darren Stockall .
Despite the final scoreline, the hosts began brightly and even took a 12th-minute lead as Danny Edmond delivered a centre from the right by-line.
With keeper Mario Ziccardi caught out, Stuart McNaught headed home his first goal for the Pics from 10 yards.
However, the lead lasted barely two minutes as home keeper Chris Butler was far too slow getting down to block a shot and Matt O'Halloran pounced on the rebound to stroke the ball home.
The second period proved a defensive disaster for the hosts
On 47 minutes they found themselves behind as keeper Butler gifted Lincoln another goal, allowing skipper Brendan McDaid a free strike.
Worse was to follow just after the hour mark.
The visitors counter attacked and front runner Sam Wilkinson had the simplest of tasks to take up possession and drill the ball past the badly exposed Rushall custodian.
A fourth inevitably followed nine minutes from full-time and was almost a carbon copy of United's previous goal.
The unshackled Wilkinson again took up possession and all too easily curled the ball past Butler into the left side of goal from the edge of the box with the home defence in disarray.
