Okoro storms to BUCS gold medal

WALSALL'S Edirin Okoro clinched a gold medal at the British Universities and Colleges Sport Championships last weekend.

Competing in the final of the 60m hurdles, the Birchfield Harrier edged out Gianni Frankis to take the gold medal in Sheffield.

Okoro recorded a time of 7.97secs and the 21-year-old sprinter was understandably pleased.

"I feel really good. I've been trying to get focussed and in form and it all came together for the race.

"It's a great track with a great atmosphere.

"Gianni was next to me but I managed to put my foot down and get to the line."
