Successive defeats see Town cast adrift at bottom of table
Willenhall Town 0
Market Drayton Town 3
MARKET Drayton moved to within a point of the league leaders on Tuesday night at the expense of basement side Willenhall Town, writes Matthew Wood .
The Lockmen are now eight points adrift at the bottom, following their 10-point deduction for going into administration during the summer.
They went behind to Drayton on eight minutes as a great run and cross down the right by the pacy Scott Embrey found Jamie Haynes, who fired home from six yards.
It could have been 2-0 on 21 minutes, as the visitors were awarded a penalty for a Willenhall handball in the box, but Steve Jackson saved Martyn Davies's spot-kick.
Drayton eventually doubled their lead on 65 minutes, as Jason Francis rose highest to head in a corner from close range.
The game was sealed on 87 minutes, as, following a short corner, substitute James Askey headed in to move Market Drayton up to third place.
Next up for Willenhall is a trip to Carlton Town, on Saturday.
