Willenhall Town 0

Market Drayton Town 3

MARKET Drayton moved to within a point of the league leaders on Tuesday night at the expense of basement side Willenhall Town, writes Matthew Wood .

The Lockmen are now eight points adrift at the bottom, following their 10-point deduction for going into administration during the summer.

They went behind to Drayton on eight minutes as a great run and cross down the right by the pacy Scott Embrey found Jamie Haynes, who fired home from six yards.

It could have been 2-0 on 21 minutes, as the visitors were awarded a penalty for a Willenhall handball in the box, but Steve Jackson saved Martyn Davies's spot-kick.

Drayton eventually doubled their lead on 65 minutes, as Jason Francis rose highest to head in a corner from close range.

The game was sealed on 87 minutes, as, following a short corner, substitute James Askey headed in to move Market Drayton up to third place.

Next up for Willenhall is a trip to Carlton Town, on Saturday.

Willenhall Town 0

WILLENHALL came off second best in this battle between the division's bottom two sides.

The Tulips opened the scoring in the 31st minute, when Evans saw his low shot beat a diving Steve Jackson.

Three minutes later, it was 2-0 as a defensive slip let in Mowbray who found himself with time and space to blast the ball past a stranded Jackson.

Willenhall's best chances saw a Pinnock cross-cum-shot saved by Hammet and on 72 minutes a low shot by Curtis through a gaggle of players went just wide.
