Yet more misery for MLF
The 26-year-old didn't know where to turn after finishing last during the 100m final at the Aviva World Trials and UK Championships over a fortnight ago.
And a daunting schedule, which included two races in three days, took its toll on Lewis-Francis who finished seventh in his heat in 10.70secs – well behind the qualifiers in London.
Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt continued his unstoppable form storming to gold in the final in 9.91secs – as Lewis-Francis was left contemplating going back to the drawing board.
"I have had the world trials in Birmingham already this month and, after racing at Crystal Palace, my body just feels dead – I just feel rubbish at the moment," he said.
"I haven't done this many races in such a short space of time for a while now. I have to take into account that it is my first season back from injury but it has been tough.
"I have a lot to be grateful for – there were times when I thought that I wouldn't be back so it is a miracle to be.
"But I want to do well and I think I need to go back and do a bit more training and come out fighting again next year."
